Easter, originally Jewish, later also became a Christian festival.
It's not known when the Christians began to celebrate Easter
in memory of Jesus´ death and resurrection.
During this time special candles burn in many churches.
Easter eggs: painted hen's egg which are eaten at the Easter.
Eggs were during the time before Easter forbidden food in
the catholic and the orthodox church, but one started to eat
eggs again during Easter. Painted Easter eggs was mainly practiced in
Skåne,(the South of Sweden) but have during the 21 Century become
common in all of Sweden. Also eggs made off marzipan and chocolate
are called påskägg (Easter eggs). The artificial eggs made
by the jeweler Fabergé in noble metals are famous.
